Aliens
A variety of aliens exist, but humans are the dominant species of the known galaxy. The number of systems that aliens call home range from zero to six or so, and of these most are in the outer-rim region.
Aurax
Aurax come from a frigid world of vast mountain ranges and tundra. These beings are tall, hairy, and ferociously strong. Their large stature, unusual digits (3 large fingers and an opposable thumb), and abnormal bulk require special gear that is tailored to their large forms. They are a species that never expanded beyond their low tech homeworld. Evidence indicates that they are descendants of bears from Sol.
Draken
Draken's home systems are warm planets, typically jungle or desert worlds. They have dark brown scales and vestigial tails that reach the back of their leg joints. Cold planets are difficult for them, but technology and warm clothes usually suffice when necessary. Still, they’ll vote for sunny climes when given any choice in the matter. They can be standoffish, and are more inclined to exert their influence through intimidation, rather than diplomacy.
Humans
Humans are a blending of the descendants of Sol and the old Altarian Empire. They are by far the most common species within the known galaxy both in the Imperium and the Federation.
Kalians
Kalians are a four-armed race of highly agile humanoids, well known for their quick reactions, razor sharp wit, marksmanship, and swordplay. Their natural skin tones are blues and greens, and they are hairless. They are known for being quick to ire if provoked.
Rakashans
Rakashans have a feline-like appearance with gold to grey short fur covering their bodies. They are known for their cruel claws, and absolute dedication to whatever purpose they happen to be serving. They are a militant species and are bloodthirstily cruel. They are the only species that holds a handful of sectors under their influence, and were loyal to the Imperium during the 100 year war. Evidence indicates that they are descendants of cats or cat-like creatures from Sol.
Synths
Advanced technology can create lifelike beings of quasi-biological matter. Such individuals have will and consciousness, but may have guidelines and parameters they must follow (reflected in their Programmed Hindrance). They are often created to work in hazardous conditions, such as deep space, asteroid mines, or toxic jungles.
Yazirians
Yazirians are short, thin humanoids. They have long arms and legs and slender torsos. Two large flaps of skin grow on either side of their bodies, attached along their arms, torso and legs. When a Yazirian raises its arms, this membrane is stretched tight and forms a sort of wing. Under certain conditions (explained under Gliding) Yazirians can glide short distances using these wings.
Yazirians have muzzles and high foreheads. Their heads are surrounded by manes and collars of hair, which varies in color from glossy black to pale yellow. Their skin color ranges from gray to light tan. They are omnivores. Yazirians have four knuckles (one more than Humans) on their fingers and toes. The inside toe is opposed like a thumb, allowing them to grasp things with their feet. The tips of their fingers and toes end in broad, ribbed pads, giving them an excellent grip. These characteristics, combined with their animal like appearance, earned them the nickname "monkeys." The evidence that Yazarians are descendants of primate species from Sol do not help with this slur of a nickname. They are known for holding grudges if they feel slighted and commonly demand restitution or apologies if such an offence happens.
